Michael is based at Thompsons Solicitors’ Cardiff branch and is part of the Accident at Work and Personal Injury Teams.

Handling claims across the South West of England and Wales, Michael deals with a variety of personal injury cases including claims involving employers, occupiers and public liability, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and the Motor Insurers Bureau.

Michael qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and works on both fast track (under £25,000) and multi-track (over £25,000) claims and often represents those who have suffered orthopaedic or psychological injuries during accidents or assaults at work or road traffic accidents.

In addition Michael, who began his career as a counsel assistant at Crown Court trials in 1991 before working as an accredited police station representative, also has experience dealing with claims for defamation and intellectual property law, such as trade marks, registered designs and copyright.

Working within a team of skilled and driven individuals and the firm’s support for trade unions, individual clients and its staff, are the main reasons why Michael enjoys being a Thompsons’ solicitor.

Michael has spent his life playing sports. He retired from rugby union after 14 years in 1994 and has raced bicycles since 1987. Michael was also a successful amateur racing driver, managed a motorcycle racing team and continues to test drive single seater racing cars across the globe.

Accident at work claim: Michael represented a scaffolder who lost both his legs following a fall from scaffolding. The claim was contested by the employer, but following an evidence gathering exercise and a successful prosecution by the Health and Safety Executive, liability was eventually conceded. Michael recovered a seven figure sum for his client.

Road traffic accident claim: Michael represented a woman who was involved in three rear end shunt car accidents within the space of 12 months. Michael successfully recovered four figure sums in relation to each accident despite the apparent injury overlap.

Defamation claims: Michael has represented a number of famous individuals who have been defamed by media outlets, securing published apologies in the process.

Michael is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
