Linda Millband is Thompsons’ Solicitors national lead lawyer for clinical negligence, based in Thompsons Birmingham office.

Effective and successful, Linda has more than 20 years’ experience of dealing with clinical negligence and serious injury claims. Overseeing the work of Thompsons’ teams dealing with clinical negligence on behalf of trade union clients across the whole firm, Linda is often in demand by the media for expert comment.

Linda specialises in cases involving life-changing and traumatic injuries, recovering millions of pounds in compensation for both individual clients and in group actions. Operating at the highest level, up to and including the High Court, Linda takes on the most challenging, difficult and long-running cases, some of whom have been turned down by other law firms.

Determined to gain the maximum amount of compensation to provide the right amount of care and support to people damaged through clinical negligence, Linda acts for victims of spinal cord injuries, limb amputations, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, misdiagnosis of cancer, of meningitis, and botched or unnecessary breast and TVT (Tension-Free Vaginal Tape) operations. Linda will also act for the families of victims who have died as a result of clinical negligence.

As a champion of people injured as a result of medical procedures that went wrong, Linda has huge experience of the devastating and life-changing impact on individuals and their families, so she approaches each case with care and empathy. With long-running cases that run to Appeal, Linda often negotiates interim payments to ensure clients can have the care and support they need. Many will need to buy expensive property and equipment or have adaptations to their homes.

Linda recently concluded a five–year battle for justice for hundreds of women butchered by a breast cancer surgeon who performed needless mastectomies and double mastectomies. Acting initially for 70 women, Linda ended up acting for more than 500 who sought Thompsons help when they heard through their trade union and other networks that Linda was handling the case.

Linda has helped set up a new campaign Patients Before Profits that Thompsons Solicitors is running to stop private health companies shirking their responsibilities towards their patients.

A strong sense of social justice led Linda into the legal profession. Linda gets huge job satisfaction working at Thompsons Solicitors, knowing that she can help people by getting the best possible result for them, never for employers.

Outside work, Linda likes to spend time with her children and gardening.
