Caroline Hall is a highly valued member of Thompsons Solicitors’ personal injury team, operating out of the firm’s Newcastle office, and representing clients from all over the North East of England.

Caroline qualified as a solicitor in March 2010, before which she worked as a paralegal. She supports clients with personal injury cases, and specialises in road traffic accident claims.

Caroline, who joined Thompsons in November 2017, also represents victims of accidents at work and civil assault. Typically, her clients will be suffering from soft tissue damage or orthopaedic injuries, and will be involved in “fast track” cases involving compensation in the £10,000 to £25,000 bracket.

Caroline says the most rewarding part of working for Thompsons Solicitors is winning compensation for the firm’s trade union clients.

Away from work, Caroline keeps fit by running. She participates in the weekly local park run, 10k events and has completed the Great North Run half marathon, raising money for charity.

Caroline’s case experience

Road traffic accident claim: Caroline obtained a £50,000 settlement for a 25-year-old woman who suffered multiple orthopaedic injuries in a serious road traffic accident. The defendant was driving at excessive speed on a motorway and collided with a vehicle in which her client was a passenger. The client sustained multiple injuries to her ankle, knee, neck and ribs.

Road traffic accident claim: A £37,000 award was secured for a young man, who was a passenger in his own vehicle on a motorway, which was written off after being struck by the defendant’s car and sent spinning into a large heavy goods vehicle. He suffered extensive permanent scarring to his arms and hands, as well as a serious injury to his wrist, which may have an impact on his future job opportunities. The client also suffered significant Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Workplace assault claim: An assault on a female employee by a pupil in a special needs school resulted in her suffering orthopaedic and psychological injuries, meaning she couldn’t return to work. Liability was denied by the defendant from the outset, but compensation was settled at £12,500 before trial.

A UNISON member said: “I would just like to thank Thompsons Solicitors for dealing with my case. 100 per cent professional.”

Another one of Caroline’s clients said: “My case took a little over 12 months. Caroline communicated with me well and was able to constructively articulate the process of my case and the next procedures. A very friendly person who at the time of my case showed sympathy to my case and took care of her client in the process. I'm very happy that she defended my case.”
