Rowena is a part of Thompsons Solicitors’ Newcastle employment rights team.

Specialising in mass litigation and equal pay, Rowena has dealt with thousands of trade union members' claims and has recovered millions of pounds as part of a mass litigation against local authorities in Cumbria, the North East, Yorkshire, Humberside and the West Midlands.

Before moving to the employment rights team in 2008, Rowena worked on mass litigation industrial disease claims brought by coal miners suffering from chest diseases contracted as a result of their former occupation.

Rowena’s duties include dealing with all aspects of claims from the initial referral to conclusion, which involves providing telephone or written advice, liaising with trade union representatives, complying with tribunal orders, attending tribunal hearings and contacting ACAS.

Rowena also deals with settlement negotiations with respondent representatives, as well as handling all aspects of the settlement process – including methodology checks, mail merging advice and information for several hundred or even thousands of claimants, processing settlement agreements and settlement payments.

Outside of work, Rowena enjoys gin, shopping and Zumba.
