Background

Personal injury specialist, Jackie, is a member of Thompsons’ Solicitors highly successful asbestos disease team, operating out of the firm’s London office.

Jackie has 14 years’ experience as a personal injury lawyer and for the past five years has specialised solely in handling all asbestos-related disease claims, including mesothelioma, pleural thickening, lung cancer and asbestosis for trade union clients. Jackie’s expertise and knowledge of asbestos-related disease, how it progresses and the options available, make her a forceful champion for the rights of her clients and their families.

Regarded as professional, compassionate and thorough, Jackie knows how devastating a diagnosis of an asbestos-related illness can be to both victims and their families. She deals quickly and sensitively with claims, visiting clients in their homes, taking the process through the High Court if necessary with the aim to reach settlement during their lifetime.

Many claims can take time which, sadly, some claimants do not have, but Jackie sensitively deals with grieving family members in continuing the claims after death. Asbestos exposure takes up to 40 to 50 years to manifest as a disease and, in a lot of cases, companies or employers will have gone out of business or been taken over in that period.

It’s often difficult to track down successor companies or the liability insurers of defunct companies. With Jackie’s expert detective skills, hard work and sheer dogged determination, she finds them and pursues them relentlessly, particularly when they deny liability, until she gets the best possible compensation for Thompsons' trade union clients.

Jackie believes that Thompsons ethos of working solely for individuals, and never for insurers, enables her and her colleagues to go the extra mile to achieve a good outcome.

In her spare time, Jackie likes to socialise with friends, go to the cinema and theatre and looking after her three cats.
