Phil Kyte is a senior solicitor specialising in workplace accidents and is based at Thompsons Solicitors' Leeds centre.

Covering claims from minor injuries to workplace fatalities, Phil has acted for clients injured in workplaces ranging from construction sites to offices, schools to factories and shops.

Phil, who leads and supervises a team of lawyers, is proud of his considerable legal expertise, but also of his ability to build relationships with clients when they are often undergoing the most stressful time of their lives. He always keeps his clients up-to-date with the latest developments in their case, while ensuring they are awarded the compensation they deserve as quickly as possible.

Outside of work, Phil is a long distance runner and a season ticket holder at the local football club he has supported since he was a boy.

Phil's case experience

  • Secured £575,000 for a man who lost the tips of three fingers after they were jammed in a copper rolling mill. Phil secured interim payments to pay for prosthetic fingers and pushed for meetings where a settlement was achieved.
  • Secured £425,000 in compensation for a paramedic whose right hand was permanently disabled after being crushed between doors, and was unable to continue working in his current position. Phil ensured that as part of the settlement the client was compensated for the wage loss he suffered.
  • Represented a factory worker who suffered burns to his leg when a faulty propane torch set his clothing alight, securing £177,000 after an initial offer of only £44,000.
  • Secured £400,000 for a client's injury and early retirement after a trip at work. Phil’s client injured his lower back which became more severe as time went on, leaving him dependent on painkilling medication.
  • Secured a £100,000 settlement for a client who was run over by a fork lift truck at work,  suffering pelvis fractures and long-term internal injuries as a result.
  • Represented a healthcare assistant who was spat at by an NHS service user, securing £100,000 in compensation after the client lost most of their sight in one eye after developing an infection.
