Karen successfully negotiated settlement of a complex gynaecological case involving a fourth degree tear sustained by the claimant during delivery of her child. The defendant failed to identify the risk of injury/tearing and carry out an episiotomy, a surgical incision used to enlarge the opening for the baby to pass through. This resulted in the claimant having to undergo reconstructive surgery which led to significant loss of bladder and bowel control function.

A settlement was negotiated in a case involving an injury sustained at an injection site due to the negligent positioning of the needle resulting in permanent nerve damage.

Karen is a member of the specialist team at Thompsons dealing with claims involving surgical mesh. She represents several clients whose claims are currently ongoing. Their quality of life and health have been significantly affected due to the insertion and subsequent erosion of the mesh.

Karen is also a member of the specialist team dealing with birth injuries including Cerebral Palsy. She currently acts for several claimants and their families who have been subjected to negligence during pregnancy and birth.

Karen is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.

“I would like to thank Karen Booth, she has been a tower of strength to me during a very difficult case. Karen has always kept me informed every step of the way. I was very nervous when I originally sought their help yet now I have the confidence to carry this through thanks to Karen. I would not have had the strength or confidence to have done this alone.”

“I am currently dealing with Karen Booth on a delicate medical case; she cannot - and I can't stress this enough - cannot do anymore for me. Such a kind and compassionate person, which isn't the norm for a solicitor. She also makes sure she gives me frequent updates, and checks that I am getting everything I need. I would recommend her to anyone I know.”

“I am really impressed with the service me and my family received during a really sad time. Karen was so caring, gave full commitment and gave us confidence that our claim for clinical negligence was dealt with in an empathetic way. Thank you so much.”
