NICOLA’S CASE EXPERIENCE

Nicola has had great success in securing maximum damages and rehabilitation for those who have had limbs amputated.

In particular, she represented a client who was working on an unguarded tarmacking machine. While admitting primary liability, the defendants insisted that her client had contributed to the accident and that any compensation should be reduced accordingly. However after a rigorous argument on Nicola’s part, a £250,000 settlement was reached on the basis that the defendant was fully liable for the injuries. The settlement covered the loss of the tip of her client’s thumb, the pain he had suffered and the impact on his quality of life. The sum also included provision for custom-made, cosmetic prosthetics, which also assisted in his psychological recovery.*

Nicola secured damages in excess of £850,000 for a client whose leg was amputated. The damages took into account the pain and suffering experienced by the claimant and the provision of a prosthetic. In this case Nicola had to prosecute the defendants through the Health and Safety Executive and prevent a dissolution of the company in order to avoid paying the damages. Nicola worked closely with a prosthetic limb provider to ensure the client’s needs were met following a traumatic amputation.#

TESTIMONIALS

Amputations claimant*: “In August 2016 the inside of my left thumb got torn off by a machine. After numerous nights in hospital, with a skin, tissue and muscle graft to rebuild a thumb I came back to Manchester. After arriving home and within the next hour the owner of the company I worked for visiting me, my partner made a quest to find a solicitor to help me on what seemed the most daunting and difficult time.

"Nicki Simmons did what no person seemed possible could happen at this time, she made it that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

From day one Nicki was more than a solicitor, she went above and beyond for us in my case. Not only did she do amazing with the outcome, but her approach was fantastic. Nicki was so professional but made that bond with us where we felt we had another friend with us on this journey and gave us the strength to go through it. We honestly could not thank Nicki enough for what she has done for us and would refer her in a heartbeat. Finally our lives are back on track after the past two years and that is all down to Nicki.”

Amputations claimant#: “Nicki helped me through a very difficult period of time from beginning to end. She was always there for me whenever I needed help and was very supportive in the most difficult moments.

“Without Nicki’s determination, professionalism and experience I would never have been able to achieve such a satisfying outcome and for that I am extremely grateful.”

Orthopaedic injuries client: “Me and my wife would like to say a very big thank you for the way you handled my case. I have found it very stressful, but I have always had a lot of faith in Nicki to give me the outcome I needed.
