A Fire Brigade Union (FBU) member was awarded £25,000 in damages for injuries he sustained on site at his fire station.
The member had been walking down the internal steps when a defective bottom step caused him to slip and fall. The member injured his back as a result.
He contacted the union who instructed Thompsons to make a claim. His solicitor successfully argued that the defendant was liable for failing to ensure a safe working environment and the case was settled before trial.
