A number of new compensation limits come into force on 1 February 2009. These apply when the relevant event takes place on or after 1 February 2009.
It is indirectly discriminatory for employers to apply a criterion which seems to apply equally to everyone but which, in reality, puts people of a certain age group at a disadvantage.
The law says it is direct discrimination for an employer to treat one person less favourably than another because of their age.
