Contracting and the DDA

Section 12 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 makes it unlawful "for a principal, in relation to contract work, to discriminate against a disabled person".

In any case of dismissal it is crucial to work out the "effective date of termination" as that is the date from which time runs in calculating Employment Tribunal time limits for lodging claims.

New part-timer regulations

We reported on the consultation draft (see Issue 44 of LELR), and now we have the finished final product: The Part-time Worker (Prevention of less favourable treatment) Regulations 2000 which came into force on 1 July.

Comparisons are not all odious

Victimisation is the legal term for treating someone who has made a complaint of, or reference to discrimination, less favourably.
