In response to recent survey findings, Acas has launched a new free e-learning course on their website to tackle age discrimination in the workplace.

The survey* found that only 17 per cent of employers had changed their employment and recruitment practices since the introduction of the legislation a year ago.

It also showed that of the one in 10 small to medium-sized enterprises that had previously treated people differently on the basis of age, none had not made any changes since October 2006.

The new course:

  • defines age discrimination
explains the legal aspects of the age discrimination regulations
explains how the regulations affect recruitment and existing employees
    explains the exceptions and exemptions
describes the process for enabling a fair retirement.
