Acas amends grievance code

Following a recent ruling by the appeal tribunal in which Thompsons acted for the claimants, Acas has revised its code of practice about who can accompany workers to grievance hearings.

Maternity leave

Although the equal treatment directive requires member states to ensure equality between the sexes, it also contains provisions to protect pregnant women.

Reasonable refusal

Employees can be denied a statutory redundancy payment if they unreasonably refuse an offer of suitable, alternative employment.
