ACAS REPORT
Acas, the Government’s arbitration and conciliation service, has just issued its 2007 annual report. This shows a slight overall drop in claims from just over 190,000 in 2005/6 to just over 180,000 in 2006/7.
Claims for unfair dismissal, Wages Act, breach of contract, redundancy and discrimination remained at a similar level to the previous year. There was, however, a big drop in Working Time claims from just over 34,000 to almost 15,000. In the same period, the number of equal pay cases almost doubled from 14,000 to over 27,000.
National Minimum Wage claims more than doubled from 371 to 739 and the first age discrimination claims are dribbling in, with 739 recorded from October 2006.
