In December 2018 the Low Pay Commission published proposals seeking to address the issue of ‘one-sided flexibility’ in the labour market. In the summer of 2019 the government launched a consultation seeking views on how to tackle the misuse of flexible working arrangements by employers and in doing so address issues such as unpredictability in working hours and income insecurity.
