Strengthening Seafarer Protection

New Regulations are to be introduced in December 2026 which provide for seafarers aboard services from the UK to France and the Channel Islands calling at a UK port 120 times a year to be paid wages equivalent to the national minimum wage on the whole of the journey. In addition, seafarers on services across the Channel must have a maximum period of service aboard of 14 days followed by an equal period of rest, or 21 days in the case of those undergoing training.
