Partner Tony is the firm's national head of asbestos strategy and regional managing partnerfor the North East and Cumbria. 

Based in the Newcastle office, Tony ensures Thompsons’ staff provide high-quality expert advice and representation to injured and mistreated people across the region in personal injury, employment rights, professional misconduct and criminal cases. 

In his role as national head of asbestos strategy, Tony designs and delivers the firm's strategy for all asbestos-related disease cases, develops campaign initiatives and ensures best practice in all of the firm's asbestos case work. In order to ensure union members receive the very best expert support and advice, Tony works closely with trade unions, charities and specialist asbestos support groups

He began his career at Thompsons in 2001 as an employment rights lawyer, completing his training contract at the Newcastle office.

He has since gained a wealth of experience and national renown as a specialist asbestos solicitor and was the first lawyer in the UK to win a “third generation” asbestos exposure case.

One of Tony's greatest privilege's has been to represent victims of asbestos exposure, who he says have always shown courage and dignity in the face of a devastating diagnosis. 


Tony's case experience

  • Won the UK's first 'third generation' asbestos exposure claim, securing £140,000 for mesothelioma client Michelle Campbell who was diagnosed with the disease at 45 years old after exposure to asbestos dust brought into her home on the clothes of her grandfather. 
  • Secured a six-figure settlement for the widow of a 53-year-old man in the High Court, despite the Ministry of Defence denying liability. The man was routinely exposed after spending his childhood sleeping next to asbestos-covered pipes on an RAF base in his childhood. He was alter exposed again while serving in the army. Tony also secured £640,000 for the man's siblings.

Tony has also been mentioned in the Legal 500 for being “noted for his specialism in claims arising from asbestos-related diseases”. He is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
