David is a supervisor at Thompsons’ Solicitors, Sheffield-based, national fast track centre, handling personal injury claims across England and Wales exclusively for union members.

David’s team of 10 lawyers are dealing with around 1,800 claims at any one time from members injured at work or in road traffic accidents, both employer's and public liability. Claims covered include slips, trips and falls, manual handling injuries, chemical injuries, injuries from faulty or unsafe equipment, whiplash, soft tissue, fractures, disfigurement or psychiatric. David sets high standards of client care and places great emphasis on the development and training of the firm’s team.

A highly professional lawyer of 30-years’ standing, David has an enviable track record of gaining the maximum compensation for his personal clients injured in accidents, ranging from £1,000 for a minor injury up to £350,000 for road traffic accidents involving fractures, head injury, complex pain syndromes, post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychiatric conditions.

David has a reputation for driving innovation in the personal injury legal field, developing strategy to deal with significant change in the sector, and ensuring that lawyers are developed and trained to adapt to changes in the law and best practice.

Thompsons is benefitting from David’s skills as he is working on new ideas and considering business models to improve the firm’s services and to adapt to the changing legal and political environment, with the aim of offering the best possible customer and client service and a supportive workplace for staff.

David is ambitious for Thompsons to continue as the leading legal firm for trade union members and their families. David believes that acting only for individual clients and standing up for social justice sets Thompsons apart from other law firms who carry out this type of work.

In his free time, David like to run, keep fit, do yoga and support his team, Sheffield Wednesday. David is also a school governor and is involved in addiction and homelessness charities.Â
