Bobbie Palmer is the first point of contact for medical negligence claimants at Thompsons Solicitors’ Bristol office, working for clients across Wales and the South West.

Bobbie has been with Thompsons for 30 years and worked in a variety of roles, including ten years assisting the regional managing partner before working as a paralegal in both the road traffic accidents team and the serious injury team.

Given her extensive client experience, Bobbie is the team member best placed to have initial discussions with clients with potential clinical negligence claims to identify their problems, explain to them what is required to make a successful claim and outline possible funding arrangements. She is always aware that she is dealing with people who have often undergone traumatising experiences, may be suffering from a range of physical, dental and psychological injuries and may still be in pain following mistreatment at the hands of a member of the medical profession in whom they placed their trust. The information Bobbie obtains from the client plays a crucial role in enabling another member of the team to assess whether the claim is likely to succeed.

In claims pursued for clients, Bobbie reviews medical records, commissions experts including specialist barristers (with whom she will attend client meetings) and has considerable experience of advising on how to successfully complain using the NHS complaints procedure and reviewing replies to complaints already made.

Bobbie puts her long service at Thompsons down to the firm’s insistence on only ever working for the injured party, rather those who may be responsible for those injuries or their insurance companies.

Away from work, Bobbie enjoys spending time with her family.
