The firm has recovered the compensation for 291 victims in the South Tyneside area.

Thompsons’ team based in Fowler Street, South Shields, has recovered the compensation for clients in cases ranging from road traffic accidents, vibration white finger, accidents at work and asbestos-related conditions.

Our job is to get the maximum compensation for our clients

David Mole from Thompsons' South Shields office said: “Every one of our clients from the South Tyneside area was injured through no fault of their own. Many were injured at work, others were involved in road traffic accidents, some tripped or fell in a public place.

“Our job is to get the maximum compensation for our clients who do not have to pay for us, regardless of whether they win or lose.”

Among the clients helped by Thompsons was a GMB member from Washington who received £9,000 in damages after she suffered a serious back injury during a car accident.

She had been advised to accept just £1,250 in damages by her insurer’s solicitors but contacted her trade union for a second opinion. Thompsons immediately saw that the offer was too low and fought the claim before settling it for almost nine times the amount her first solicitors said she should take.

Thompsons South Shields office also fought a case for Tommy Clough from Houghton-le-Spring after he was buried alive in cement at work leaving him with cement burns across his entire body and post traumatic stress disorder. The case settled for a substantial sum.
