Despite an overwhelmingly negative response to the idea of “employee owners”, the government has said in its consultation response published last week that it is going ahead with the proposal anyway.
Workers are not entitled to the National Minimum Wage (NMW) if they live with their employer in the family home, unless they can show they fall within the exemption in the regulations.
Under the Equality Act 2010 both employment tribunals and courts can decide equal pay claims because they are essentially claims for breach of contract.
