Judith Lamb is an experienced litigation assistant attached to Thompsons Solicitors’ serious injury and medical negligence teams based in Thompsons Solicitors’ Newcastle upon Tyne office.

Judith is the first point of contact for all clinical negligence enquiries from the North East of England, Cumbria and Yorkshire & Humberside – a role she has fulfilled for the last eight years. Judith’s job is to have the initial conversation with a potential client and elicit the relevant information. Judith will make an assessment about whether the claim is likely to succeed and she will pass her recommendations on to another member of the team.

Judith also helps clients, who may be suffering from a range of physical and mental injuries, to make complaints to GPs or hospitals.

She believes it is always important to be sympathetic to the needs of clients and to help them focus on the relevant issues of their claim so she can successfully guide them through what has often been a complex history of treatment.

Judith, who has been at Thompsons for 14 years, previously worked in the asbestos litigation team providing support to Andrew Venn in pursuing pleural plaques claims.

She has also worked in the serious injury team providing support to Paul Brown in setting up Headway Wearside, a charity for adults with brain injuries.

Her current job is to discuss a client’s circumstances in detail, advising on what is required to succeed in a claim and discussing the funding of the claim. As part of her job, Judith arranges conferences and participates in them and reviews medical records.  She also advises on complaint procedures and reviews existing responses to complaints. Judith will sometimes instruct experts to comment on particular issues.

Judith enjoys working for Thompsons because the firm will only represent the injured party and because it goes out of its way to seek justice for them.

In her spare time she enjoys walking and travelling around the UK.
