Tony is the Operations Director at Thompsons Solicitors and holds a position on the firm's Executive Board. He is based in the Newcastle office.

As Operations Director, Tony has responsibility for leading and managing the firm across all practice areas. He leads operational strategy on the Executive Board.

He is also the firm’s National Head of Asbestos Strategy, working diligently alongside trade unions, asbestos support groups, and charities, ensuring each client affected by asbestos receives top-tier expert advice and compassionate support.

In 2001, Tony became a valuable addition to Thompsons' Newcastle office, where he completed his training contract. Over the years, he has honed his specialisation in asbestos cases and has adeptly managed various teams within the firm, including as Regional Managing Partner of Thompsons’ North East Branch.

Tony is the first lawyer in the UK to secure a victory in a 'third generation' asbestos exposure case. This landmark achievement involved securing compensation for a woman who had suffered exposure through contact with her grandfather’s work clothes.

The driving force beyond Tony's illustrious career has been the privilege of acting for those affected by asbestos-related disease who show such courage and dignity in the face of such a devastating diagnosis.

 

 

Tony's case experience

  • Won the UK's first 'third generation' asbestos exposure claim, securing ÂŁ140,000 for mesothelioma client Michelle Campbell who was diagnosed with the disease at 45 years old after exposure to asbestos dust brought into her home on the clothes of her grandfather. 
  • Secured a six-figure settlement for the widow of a 53-year-old man in the High Court, despite the Ministry of Defence denying liability. The man was routinely exposed after spending his childhood sleeping next to asbestos-covered pipes on an RAF base in his childhood. He was alter exposed again while serving in the army. Tony also secured ÂŁ640,000 for the man's siblings.

Tony has also been mentioned in the Legal 500 for being “noted for his specialism in claims arising from asbestos-related diseases”. He is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
